Our office sits at 4032 W Moore Rd. Marana is not a territory we expanded into. It is the ground we work from, and it shows up in the small things: a subcontractor who can be on site in twenty minutes, a walkthrough that happens the same afternoon you call, an owner who drives past the job on the way home.
Marana also builds differently from the Foothills. The Town runs its own building department, the lots are larger and flatter, and the constraint is rarely slope. It is wind, sun and distance: long uninterrupted view corridors toward the Tortolitas and the Catalinas, and very little natural shade to work with.
That makes orientation the most valuable decision on the whole project. Where the glass faces, where the covered outdoor rooms sit, and how the house handles a west exposure in June will matter more to how it lives than any finish selection.
What a Marana build asks for
Open desert gives you the views and none of the shelter. Deep overhangs, ramadas and a plan turned correctly against the west sun do more for comfort and running cost here than any mechanical system.
We have been building to energy-efficiency standards since well before it was fashionable, including an EPA Energy Star award for the most energy-efficient custom home in Southern Arizona. On an exposed Marana lot that work pays for itself.
Bigger lots invite bigger exterior programs: ramadas, outdoor kitchens, fire features, pools and spas. We build them to the same standard as the interior, because in this climate they get used more.
